Ordering everything right.
Only when you are absolutely certain that you have all of the specifications (and not just the correct measurements) should you place your order for manufacture. Here is a checklist to give your chosen supplier to ensure that he makes everything correctly for you:
-
Supply a design sketch which clearly shows the style and overall 'make to' sizes for each window and door frame, and where you want your openers, and whether trickle vents are to be fitted in the top.
-
Clearly show if each frame is to have a cill at the bottom, and the type of front to back size, and that this has been included in your height measurement.
-
Specify if an opener is to be an emergency means of escape in the event of a fire.
-
Transom drop, (horizontal bar) as measured from the edge of the top of a window frame to the middle of the horizontal bar (the transom).
-
Mullion distance, (vertical bar) as measured from the side of a window frame to the middle of the vertical bar (the mullion).
-
Whether you want exterior or interior glazing beads.
-
Show the name of any textured patterned class you have chosen, or state 'clear', and write down any name of leaded light design, or white Georgian grille.
-
Confirm that you need all trims (you specified when you did the survey), and sufficient fixings, sealants, and correct packers, and that these are included in the agreed price, and that the price does include vat.
Do NOT be tempted to pay "cash", you want and need a proper receipt, and guarantee.
